Therapy for Anxiety and Perfectionism in California
Therapy for women who are tired of being "fine" and ready to feel calm, not just look it.
When "having it all together" is exhausting
From the outside, you look like you've got it handled. You're reliable, put-together, the friend who remembers everyone's birthday. On the inside, it's a different story.
Your mind replays the conversations from lunch. You rewrite a two-line text four times. You finish a big project, feel relief for about ten minutes, and then you're already worried about the next one. Rest feels like something you have to earn and somehow you never quite earn it.
Maybe you notice:
-Racing or looping thoughts, especially at night
-A tight chest, clenched jaw, or a stomach that's always "a little off"
-Procrastinating on the things that matter most because they have to be perfect
-Saying yes when every part of you means no
-Feeling like a fraud, even when you've clearly earned your place
-Struggling to enjoy wins because you're already scanning for what could go wrong
Anxiety & Perfectionism: what's the difference?
Anxiety is your body and mind reacting to a threat, real or imagined. It shows up as worry, racing thoughts, a tight chest, or trouble switching off.
Perfectionism is a rule you live by: "my worth depends on getting this right". It shows up as overworking, procrastinating, over-apologizing, or never feeling done.
They often show up together. Perfectionism can be a way of trying to control anxiety: "if I do everything right, nothing bad can happen."
It works for a while, then the standard rises and the anxiety comes back.
Therapy helps both calm the alarm and loosen the rule.
How
I
help
My approach is warm, practical, and trauma-informed. We don't just talk about anxiety, we work with it directly.
-EMDR: helps your brain stop reacting to old alarms
-Somatic work: calms anxiety where it lives in your body
-Practical tools: for overthinking and self-criticism
My approach is Think. Feel. Act. Understand your patterns, feel without fighting, and take steps toward the life you actually want.
